Malaysian Entrepreneur, Ikmal Fahmi to Join ASEAN Youth Empowerment Workshop in Bangkok

Machang, Kelantan, Malaysia — Ikmal Fahmi, a prominent Malaysian entrepreneur and journalist, has been selected to participate in the Regional Capacity Building Workshop for Empowering Youths Across ASEAN: Cohort 4. This pivotal event, dedicated to fostering youth empowerment and regional collaboration, will take place from August 1 to August 5, 2024, at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.


The workshop is a collaborative effort between the ASEAN Foundation and Maybank Foundation, reflecting a longstanding commitment to promoting shared prosperity, awareness, and interaction among ASEAN communities. The ASEAN Foundation, established on December 15, 1997, during ASEAN’s 30th Anniversary Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, aims to address these vital needs.


Empowering the Next Generation


Launched on ASEAN Day in 2018, the eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN program focuses on empowering young people through experiential learning and social volunteerism. The initiative aims to make a significant impact on local communities by equipping youth with essential skills, fostering mentorship, and building a strong regional youth development network.

Who’s Participating


The workshop will gather youth volunteers from all 10 ASEAN countries, alongside representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat, Maybank Group, ASEAN Foundation, and Chulalongkorn University. Also attending will be representatives from civil society organizations and social enterprises from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

- Providing youth volunteers with resources and best practices for successful community project implementation

- Creating opportunities for mentorship and networking

- Building a robust regional youth development community
