Microsoft Build 2024 was a hybrid event held in Seattle, USA, from May 21 to 23. Over three inspiring days, developers, tech enthusiasts, and industry leaders from around the globe came together both in-person and virtually. Day 1 kicked off with groundbreaking keynotes and sessions that set the tone for innovation and collaboration. Day 2 featured hands-on workshops and deep dives into emerging technologies, enhancing skills and exploring new possibilities. The grand finale on Day 3 unveiled exclusive product announcements and offered unparalleled networking opportunities. Throughout the event, participants delved into the latest advancements in AI, cloud computing, and more, leaving with renewed passion and exciting new ideas to drive the future of technology. Debate to Regulate, or D2R, is an innovative program focused on shaping a new generation of future policymakers, lawyers, tech leaders, and other professionals from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, equipping them with the tools to be champions of online safety in their respective countries and the region. 

The program, delivered by the ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership, or AASYP, and the eSafety Commissioner of Australia (eSafety),  will spotlight the importance of a human rights-based approach to online safety regulation and foster a Safety by Design mindset in emerging leaders and future educational and advocacy initiatives.

D2R focused on building skills, knowledge and awareness through two key program components.The program will begin with a series of virtual education workshops led by the experts from eSafety, providing foundational knowledge on online safety and our region.

Delegates then convened for a two-day Model UN-style conference in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2024. As a delegate, one will work in a team of four alongside  fellow country representatives, to produce a resolution on the topic of online safety and human rights-based regulation at the end of the two days.

YECAP Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment in Climate Action”

The “YECAP Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment in Climate Action” is scheduled for April 22, 2024 (virtually) and April 23, 2024 (hybrid)' The event is co-organized by the UNDP, UNFCCC RCC Asia and the Pacific, UNICEF East Asia and Pacific, UNEP, ESCAP, the British Council, ARROW, YOUNGO, Movers Programme, and 2030 Youth Force, supported by Sweden. This two-day dialogue aims to celebrate and showcase the efforts in empowering youth in climate action, following the YECAP Climate Action Week. It connects various stakeholders and highlights past year's achievements while engaging youth voices in preparation for major upcoming events including The Summit of the Future in 2024.

4th Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium (APYS4)

Conducted virtually from 17 - 19 April 2024, the 4th Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium (APYS4) served as a crucial platform for dialogue and collaboration among governments, NGOs, youth, and various stakeholders to address pressing climate issues in the region. Emphasizing the empowerment of youth, particularly young women, the symposium focused on fostering skills for green job creation, enhancing youth participation in policy-making, and promoting a just transition. By hosting a fully online program, APYS4 aimed to increase accessibility, enable multilingual translation, and ensure a safe space for intergenerational dialogue. Moreover, the event aimed to consolidate youth contributions to climate solutions, ensure inclusivity for marginalized groups, enhance youth networking and capacity-building, and facilitate collaboration among diverse sectors. Targeting a wide range of participants, including youth, professionals, government representatives, academics, and organizations, APYS4 aimed to develop actionable strategies to address climate challenges and promote sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region.

YECAP Climate Action Week 2024

The YECAP Climate Action Week 2024, which took place from April 15th to 19th, was a virtual event comprising knowledge sharing, capacity-building sessions, and learning opportunities focused on well-being for change makers, green jobs, and careers through the Movers Programme. It discussed outcomes from the 11th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development and the road to The Summit of the Future in 2024, in conjunction with the Asia and the Pacific Youth Symposium led by the Asian Development Bank, ECOSOC Youth Forum 2024, ESCAP 80th Session of the Commission, and other key opportunities. 

 

Organized by the YECAP Fellows and engaging young climate leaders and the YECAP Action Committee, the event aimed to facilitate youth engagement in discussions on climate resilience, green transition, and leaving no one behind, fostering connections among youth from the Asia-Pacific region and empowering them to lead conversations on pressing climate issues.

 

It highlighted the experiences of vulnerable communities, including indigenous peoples, women, and people with disabilities, to ensure a holistic approach to climate challenges and solutions.  

 

The event was open to youth aged 18 to 35 and involved over 500 participants, including climate champions, changemakers, and professionals from diverse backgrounds relevant to climate change issues, with outcomes contributing to the Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment in Climate Action on April 22, 2024.

 2022 ASEAN Korea Youth Summit (AKYS)

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) of the Republic of Korea, in collaboration with various organizations including the National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea (NCYOK), the Korean Educational Psychology Association (KEPA), and the ASEAN University Network (AUN), proudly organized the 2022 ASEAN Korea Youth Summit (AKYS) with the theme "Carbon Neutrality and ASEAN-Korea Youth," held in a hybrid format from August 9th to 12th, 2022. The summit aimed to gather 110 student representatives from ASEAN Member States and South Korea to deliberate on policies, mechanisms, and instruments of ASEAN-Korea cooperation, focusing on topics such as carbon neutrality, environmental justice, green technology, environmental health, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with active youth participation. The event schedule includes pre-activities, the main summit, and post-summit activities.

ALSA Forum

Thailand 2022  

With the theme “Challenging Distances: A Metaverse World Intertwined, ALSA Forum, delegates had convened hybridly from August 4 until August 7 2022 for ALSA Forum Thailand 2022. With ALSA Thailand and Thailand Institute of Justice as the main conveners, ALSA Forum Thailand 2022 wished to equip the delegates with knowledge for the upcoming sessions, ready to discuss and develop ideas on each chamber’s respective topics about various legal issues of the Metaverse in the Future Thinking Sessions. There were a few discussion sessions delivered by distinguished guest speakers, who provided all delegates with deeper insights into the topic of Metaverse and its legal problems, especially in terms of the criminal aspects.
